Last Sunday was a hot but definitely fun day for us, the YFF (Yu-gi-oh! Friends Forever) people of Davao City. But like any day, it has to start with something and in this case, it started with Century Egg. Just ask James the monkey if he ate some
(^_^)
We had our first ever beach bash tourney (almost every one of us were dueling wearing shorts, ugh!) courtesy of our good friend, Robert. The white sandy beach in Samal was the battlefield for two opposing teams of five duelists. I was with the Winning Team (Teams were assembled through paper, scissors and stone and the team I belonged to were all winners of it). Our team was composed of Mikey, me, rain, benj and mokuba. The other team (the guys who lost in the paper scissors stone) was Jay-Jay, Momo, Reggie, Shoti and my good friend James the monkey.
The sun was burning high up in the clear blue sky and the tension was going along with it. The dueling mats were placed and our decks were shuffled and lined up (our deck sleeves were colorfully themed power rangers! I had Red, Mikey had Green, Mokubas White, Rain had Kuraz on it and Benjs simply didnt have any
hes the naked ranger (^_^))
The rules of the Beach Bash Tourney:
Five players per team
A player only has one monster zone and one spell and trap zone but standard official tag rules applied.
Players start with only One card!
Effect Damage is negated or effect damage cards are forbidden.
Advance Format Sept. 1 rules applied but mirror force, torrential tribute, Jinzo, Giant Trunade were forbidden.
Round One:
The first round of the match was quite intense. Both teams exchange firepowers with strong monsters and with both teams having only 4000 LP, it was really a sweat-dropping moment for both opposing teams.
We (the winning team of paper scissors stone) had a good start. We managed to summon our Goddess of victory, Athena and she made some serious damage but sadly, she went to the graveyard after a few turns (She was up against five strong duelist!). But luckily, we made it through the hard moments and managed to reduce the other teams LP to a mere 700 while keeping our LP high around 3K.
And then it was my turn (the opposing team was having a bad hand, no new set cards or monsters whatsoever). I flipped my Mysterious Guard to return their only monster on the field to the owners deck. With no hesitation (even though they had a few face down cards) I declared an attack with my Mysterious Guard and luckily neither traps nor spells were activated (bluff cards!!! I hate them!!) and I took round one in the bag for my team (lucky me and my mysterious guard!).
Round Two: Teams had 8000LP
WE LOST! Bluntly speaking. (^_^)
We have no excuse
the other team took us out with their shear high attack monsters
I forgot who.
Lunch Break:
All of us defeated the lechon manok, bread, coke
bananas, except me
Ugh!..... Momo tried to offer me some but I wholeheartedly refused. (^_^)
Round Three:
It was time that nearly took our team. One of our strongest member had a bus catch and time was running short! We had to win or lose in time! (Mikey couldnt forgive us if he got late in the bus terminal and miss his ride home to Gen San!) I had a good start. My hand was full of monsters and spells and then my friend Jay-Jay activated disturbance strategy and from there on, I had a hand full of defensive monster cards (kinda bad for the moment).
Our team had some strong monsters later on. Athena made it to the field once again thanks to Mikey and his Valhalla. Sadly, she made an early exit but was later revived through Mokubas monster reborn. Rain made some serious damage! With his lightsworn deck at hand, he demolished most of our competitors to dusts. Benj was also a key factor here. He returned most of the tribute monsters of the other team back to their hands (Rock Deck
rocks!!!), giving rain a clear field. And then Venominaga (forgive me if its spelled incorrectly, I dunno the correct one) was summoned by Mokuba and reduced the other teams 16000 LP down around 9000 or lower (this round our 8000LP last round was doubled for the finale). After a few rounds while my feet were itching on the sandy white sand, Rain made a great defensive strategy to close down Shotis fearful Gear Golem Deck with some monster card that I dunno (Its a monster when in the graveyard, you can remove it from play to make battle damage zero or something, I think) and we had three of it in the graveyard already! Later we used one to save our ass and reserved the other two solely for Shotis high attack fusion golem (with limter of course!).
And then
WE WON!
But before our sweet victory, I managed to summon my signature card, Dark Magician Girl only to be destroyed by her mortal enemy number one: monkey. He used some trap card to destroy my beautiful Dark Magician Girl! Bad Money! Bad Monkey!
But even with that incident, we still won the round! Each of us (the winning team) won ourselves a torrential tribute!
And now on to the beach! We swam, we almost drown, I floated, I was pushed unexpectedly by Reida
I thought I was a goner! I cant swim! I could only float!!! Stephen was spiked on the foot
ehehe (^_^) Jetski
